LONA SNELL-MEd, LPC, CCTP & EMDR Trained, CART, BC-TMH

Lona (“Law-na”) is a passionate Christian Counselor who is a member of The Montgomery County Mental Health & Behavioral Leadership Task Force Team, who is also a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional & EMDR Trained, Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, and a Board Certified Telemental Health Counselor. Her goal is to elevate her clients to reach their full potential! She specializes in First Responder & Veteran Counseling, Trauma & Self-Harm, Anxiety & Depression, Child & Adolescent Issues, Family & Blended Family Counseling

She has obtained an array of experience from working with first responder departments, collaborating with non-profit organizations, private practice setting, school counseling setting, a behavior modification setting, a local adolescent youth shelter, and a drug & eating disorder treatment facility. She is a wife of a first responder, is a mother of two children, ages 16 and 9, and they are a blended family. She values family, faith, and fun, as she celebrates her daily gratitude for life and Christ. She is an eclectic counselor who uses a variety of counseling theories and techniques to meet your individual needs. She and her clients often review practical coping strategies, grounding techniques, mindfulness, exploration and processing, and self-regulation to utilize both inside and outside of the counseling office. 

When Lona is not working she enjoys being outdoors, traveling, dancing, laughing, or spending time with her family, friends, dogs, & cows. It is her personal belief that life should be celebrated. BLAINE HUMMEL, J.D., M.Ed, LPC-INTERN (SUPERVISED BY DEBORAH LINDEEN, LPC-S)   Blaine is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (supervised by Deborah Lindeen) and a practicing litigation attorney in Texas. After 20 years in the courtroom, he decided to shift his focus to a more collaborative and non-adversarial form of counseling. Blaine has tried numerous cases to juries and argued before various courts of appeal in Texas. He understands all too well the rigors of the legal practice. Blaine is here to help attorneys and other professionals with managing stress, anxiety, depression, and to strike a work-life balance.  Blaine employs a client-centered approach, using various counseling techniques to tap into the innate and unique abilities of each of his clients. In his practicum, Blaine worked directly with low income high school students, providing individual psychotherapy to adolescents and advising them on personal issues. He understands the difficulties inherent in coming of age in this modern era of “screens” and social media.  Earlier this year, Blaine founded YouSquared, Inc., a Texas nonprofit corporation, whose mission is to co-create community through the sharing of meals and regular service projects. He believes strongly in giving back to the community and enjoys volunteering for local nonprofits, including his work as a Child Advocate. Blaine is also a certified Lego® Serious Play® facilitator and conducts workshops using this method to explore personal narratives.  In his free time, Blaine creates art, plays the bass guitar, deejays, and enjoys spending time with his daughter and their two rescue dogs. He is an avid fisherman and loves being on the water. LAUREN REED, psychotherapist who is Pursuing a Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy(Supervised by Lona Snell, LPC)   Lauren Reed is a passionate psychotherapist who is pursuing a Master’s in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy. She is in her last two semesters of graduate school at SHSU. Lauren enjoys helping individuals, families, and couples thrive! She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from A&M and is currently completing her graduate Marriage, Couple, and Family counseling degree. Lauren has previously completed prior counseling hours at SHSU The Woodlands Center and has participated in The Art Against The Odds Program at The Hospitality House.  Lauren has a heart for helping families overcome communication and behavior challenges with their children & teens, as well as, first responder and civilian marriages.
